Bodegas Martinez Saez | D.O. La Mancha
The estate of Martinez Saez covers a surface of 550 hectares. Not only being a vineyard, also cereal crops and, more recently, olive groves are grown here. All this in a natural area at an approximate altitude of 900 meters, which brings freshness and structure to the vineyards. The old vines on this plateau produce a low amount (2 kg) of exceptionally high quality grapes thanks to the challenging but favourable climate. Bodegas Martinez Saez is a family winery where artisanal methods are combined with the newest technology of wine-making. The winery was built in 2001 and is equipped with modern installations; it has computer controlled temperature equipment, pneumatic wine presses, and an acclimatized underground cellar in which the temperature and humidity are strictly controlled for fermentation in American and French oak casks. Fermentation and filtering is done in a traditional manner without adding sulphites and sugars. The vineyard is looked after carefully all year round in order to get the best-quality grapes. Wines are made from joven, roble and crianza to reserva and cavas. Winemaker Antonio Rodriguez has gained experience in wine regions like La Rioja, La Mancha, and Valdepeñas. In the video below he tells you more about the bodega and wine making process.
