Bodegas Arrocal | D.O. Ribera del Duero
Gumiel de Mercado has always been a town with a wine-growing tradition. Its structure is medieval and in the town centre there is a hill where our ancestors dug underground cellars to keep their wines. Rosa and Moisés were born in this little town, and from their ancestors they inherited this tradition. They have been planting new vines with the same care but adapted to new technologies. The project began in 1999 when they took over the family vineyard and planted new plots. The result of this project, with all its work, effort and excitement, has been Bodegas Arrocal – our passion.
Ribera del Duero is an important wine-producing area in Castilla y Leon, northern Spain. Its reputation comes from the high quality of its red Tempranillo-based wines. The quality of the wines is largely the result of the special weather conditions (dry summers and long, harsh winters), which play a fundamental role in the ripening of the grapes. Bodegas Arrocal and its vineyards of 33 hectares are located at an altitude of 830 meters.
