Celler Pasanau - D.O.Q. Priorat

Celler Pasanau: A Legacy in the Heart of Priorat

Celler Pasanau is deeply rooted in the historic wine region of Priorat, where viticulture has been a family tradition for centuries. The Pasanau family established their presence in Poboleda in 1850 and remained dedicated to winemaking since then. In 1940, great-grandfather Joan Pasanau Garcia took a decisive step in revitalizing the land by replanting vines, marking the beginning of a new era for the family and the region.

By 1984, the family planted their first vineyards in the D.O.Q. Priorat, focusing on old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena on the emblematic licorella slopes. The fourth generation introduced modern techniques while preserving traditional methods. Their vision led to the founding of the current winery in 1995 in La Morera de Montsant, nestled at the foot of the Serra del Montsant. Today, the fifth generation continues this legacy, elaborating wines that embody the authenticity of northern Priorat.

Northern Priorat: A Unique Terroir

Located at the foot of the Serra de Montsant, northern Priorat is a rugged and untamed landscape, defined by steep slopes, deep ravines and diverse soils. The Mediterranean climate, influenced by continental elements, creates an ideal environment for viticulture, with cold winters, hot summers and minimal rainfall. This slow and controlled ripening process allows the grapes to develop concentrated flavors and exceptional character, resulting in wines that reflect the depth and complexity of this extraordinary region.
